Jianne has asked me to post her trip record. Kind of interesting, a month on the road with your husband, Wow!
Today, the DH and I start our 30-day trip to the Grand Canyon and back. I’m calling it the Celebratory Empty Nest Trip or the CENT tour for short. Our destination is Tallahassee where we’ll visit our son - the young’un - and take him out for dinner. Apparently he has two intra-mural soccer games, and joy, joy, we get to go cheer for him!
The sons moved out and yet everything remains the same.

We’re leaving at the God-awful hour of five in the morning so we can get to Tally in time for dad and son to out macho each other on the golf course. I plan to write while they’re chasing those white balls and losing a half-dozen or so in whatever water happens to dot the course.

We’re driving our SUV tagged ‘The Black Pearl’ by the young’un who’s convinced the vehicle should belong to him. The poor DH doesn’t know it yet, but I bought a couple of DVD courses on the Vikings and How to Listen to and Appreciate Classical music for us to while away the hours. I can just see his face when we do Baroque music…

Hmm, I wonder if we’ll still be speaking to each other by day three.

Cheers,

JC

That is just the beginning!
Living on a farm surrounded by family i cannot imagine a one month road trip with my dh. Very interesting.
Good luck! Tuning out sometimes helps for a while. Stops at deserted rest areas can fun, too. cover the windows, though.
Sounds like a fab trip. Long drive however. I visited the GC in December yr before last and it was COLD. You might want to try the Grand Canyon Railway.
Very interesting...should be fun if you schedule some time away from each other! The Grand Canyon is beautiful. In fact, this whole country is gorgeous! Enjoy!
What an interesting concept! An entire month on the road with the DH. Not sure I'm that brave. Took mine on a 10 day trip to the Mediterrean and while it was a great trip, DH was ready to return home! We visited the GC back in '01 and it is so beautiful. Try to find time to drop by Sedona and the redrock country, it is worth the extra time. Lovely and inspiring. Keep us posted on the trip.
