This book is the
second in the Sweetwater Springs series of stand-alone books by this author.
Former bad boy, Travis Baxter, has a reputation to
live down, a job to do fast, and one woman he can’t seem to avoid. He’s
starting a 24/7 renovation flip on Claire’s beauty salon when a surprise
appears at his door . . . a three-year-old son. Immediate custody brings Travis
a major problem. He needs a nanny.
Claire Larkin glimpsed a rare and appealing side
of Travis during one ill-fated date, but her personal policy is no involvement,
no strings. Not even a pet until she’s pronounced cancer free. With free time
until her salon is done, Claire pitches in to help the grieving little boy and
stunned father. Despite her best efforts to resist, she and Travis succumb to
their attraction.
When it appears Claire’s cancer has returned, she
pulls away and Travis is faced with a seemingly impossible decision. Protect
his son from another loss or support the woman he’s come to love?
Fans of Marie
Ferrarella, Tanya Michaels, Leanne Banks and Susan Mallery will enjoy this
series, which contains sensual romance against a backdrop of family and
community.

Town Princess (J.T. and Cass), March 2014

Carol Burnside is an award-winning author traditionally published in
short stories. Five of her novel length, contemporary romance manuscripts have
placed in numerous RWA chapter contests and won five, including the prestigious
Maggie Award for Excellence. Her
personal second-chance-at-love story resulted in a marriage to her high school
sweetheart of thirty-plus years. They reside in northern Arkansas, where Carol
enjoys the Ozark foothills from her office windows and drinks sweet iced tea
year round.
Also writing as Annie Rayburn, Carol
produces speculative, erotic romance with a humanoid race living openly among
us in present day. No matter what she’s writing, Carol/Annie loves hearing from
her readers.

Thank you, Sandy. I had to keep the tissues handy while writing this one. It wasn't easy to write, but I love the characters.
I'm trying, Pam A. I'm trying! LOL

Congrats on releasing Her Unexpected Family, Carol! This is such a fun series to edit. Great cover!
Her Unexpected Family sounds like a heart-warming read. As someone who lost their love to cancer, I love stories where cancer is kicked to the wayside. Way to go!
Congrats on it's release.
Carol,
This is one of my favorite stories. And I love the cover.
Susan Carlisle
Carol, I am so glad you joined us today! That cover is a winner. Must get that book! grin!
Sounds like an amazing and touching story...can't wait to read.
Hi, Carol. :) I must say your story sounds like the kind that would make me cry (a good thing). Good luck with it!
I'm glad you think so, Linda N. Happy to be here.
Thanks for stopping by to support me Em! You keep me on my toes.
Autumn, I've lost loved ones to cancer as well. Mean disease! I was happy to give Claire a better outcome, but I tried to be real and show that her struggle still affected her life for a long time.
Thank you, Susan. Ladies, Susan is my critique partner and best cheerleader. She also writes terrific medical romance.
I'm glad you like it, Mary. Kim Killion nailed this cover on her first draft.
Thank you, debjulienne. I appreciate the comment.
Hi, Barbara. I've since added a paragraph to my description for this book. It goes like this:
Warning: This book contains hair salon gossip, hunky construction workers, sex in the shower, sudden humor and it might tempt you to gorge on pizza and brownies. Even so, at certain points the reader may wish to keep tissues handy.
:-)
Carol, you have such a distinct voice. You write the books I find hard to put down because you make it easy to bond and connect with your characters. Congratulations and best of luck to you.
Carol, congrats on the new release! Can't wait to read this one! You go girl.
Aw, Pamela V, now you're just making me blush, but THANK YOU!
Thanks, Scarlet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy revisiting the characters in Sweetwater Springs.
Randomly drawn, the prizes results are:
debjulienne wins an ecopy of her choice: A Suitable Wife or Her Unexpected Family
