My husband and I, along with our dachshund, recently moved
from Florida to Boise, Idaho to be able to spend more time with our kids and
grandchildren. Oh, the pleasure!
Because we were moving to a smaller house, we had a lot of
sorting and giving away and planning and measuring to do. Oh, the pain!
Being able to find new homes for stuff we’d had for years?
To get rid of STUFF? Oh, the pleasure!
To pack up the “keepers”? Oh, the pain!
You get the picture. The
ups and downs of moving.
We had to drive two cars across country, driving fast,
playing dodge with 18-wheelers. Painful.
Seeing part of our big, beautiful country? Such Pleasure.
Even though we hope we never have to move again, my husband
and I are glad we did it. Especially when a little voice says, “Hi, Mimi! “Hi,
Papa!”

Ugh. Moving. I don't remember there being any pleasure in it until it was done. lol
I love to move because it forces my husband to finally get rid of all the junk he collects. I think it's about time to move again, because his stuff is starting to fall out of the closets. :)
My first ever move was from Jersey to Florida. What a shock! But having uprooted from the only place I knew, coming here, making new friends, learning a new culture that is still part of our country makes me itch to live in other places of the US.
Idaho what a lovely place! I wish you the best in your new home. I can really empathize with having to sort and give away stuff. Did that a couple of years ago. And I know about playing dodge with 18-wheelers. Moved from Miami to Houston towing a horse trailer.
What an experience. I haven't moved in eons but did all the time growing up and as a young adult. I hated it and have put down roots in this old farm house and don't intend to budge.
Ha, Barbara! Me!! I was a little surprised by it but a man's tools are very important and then he's a wonderful chef so all the kitchen equipment is very important! LOL

Kara, Peter and I have moved a lot - all over the country. It's a beautiful place and we've found terrific people at each move!
Linda, don't know how you did it pulling a horse trailer. There were moments when I was terrified!And not always by truckers but the drivers around them!

Hi Judy I know exactly what you went through. We moved from Ohio to Florida ten years ago. Very difficult.
What a wonderful blog, Judy. Moving can be difficult, but the pleasure of being with family is worth it.
