It’s snowing in my area of the world today. A great day to keep my fingers on the keyboard, but where and how will I find inspiration?
IDEA! Brainstorming.

How do we do that while stuck inside, you ask?

Look at each of the pics below and using the picture write the opening line or lines for a book. Do as many as you want. Make them as long as you want.

Kewl post Autumn!~I'm stalling, need to get to my edits. You did a super job on those lines. I'll have a go.
No. 1: Spinning straw into gold seemed easier than finishing this abstract, but the show was tomorrow--and he'd be there.
No. 2: No one understood how it felt to soar with the eagles, then be forced back to the hard earth.
No. 3: Only the sea turtle knows where she lays her eggs, but 'why' is as old as time.
No. 4: But he hated spaghetti, at least when she made it.
No. 5: If he'd known that kiss would bind him to her for life, he never would have sealed his fate.
Oh, very good, Beth. I can see great conflict or adventure on the horzion with those lines.

2.Dee tried the tidbit gamely, as he placed the strange meat on the tip of her tongue.
3. Every year they return to the beaches here and bury their eggs, even though most young will not survive to reach the ocean.
4.Each of her Italian relatives tried to out do the another, as they made their version of the family sauce for the Country Fair cookout.
5.Slowly his lips approached hers, as breathlessly she waited to experience that one and only first kiss.

Autumn, this was such a fun excerise. Now I'm all giddy. Here are my one-liners.
1. It was the beginning of a new life.
2. She loved the way the knife felt as it sliced into her tongue. (What can I say, I love suspense)
3. Hey, wait up, Jasper.
4. Dinner was arranged on his plate like a Picasso.
5. With my breath caught in my throat, I waited for his lips to crush mines.
I had trouble with the turtle picture, but boy, you and MM nailed it.
And the suspense line, wow! You have me wondering is she the villian.
I did a similar exercise on my blog a few months ago and one of the commentors actually wrote a story from her first line. I was privileged to be the first reader. It was awesome.
