Just walking Around at DragonCon 2009, Part 1

DragonCon is is a humongous fan convention held in Atlanta, Georgia every year over Labor Day weekend.

There were mature folks,

Some folks just couldn't stay awake.

LinkThere are hundreds of workshops, shows, parades, and dealers of books, magazines, costumes, and everything to do with horror, fantasy, and futuristic characters, movies and more. That sounds vague but there is too much to explain. The events are staged in four hotels in downtown Atlanta. Yep, four of them. Here are a few of the sights I saw when I escaped the writers tract in search of food.

There were babies, too.

It was fun! The sights could be overwhelming at times. I didn't leave my own hotel this time.

I never knew who or what would appear around any corner.

Wow, were costumes mandatory, LOL?

Mary Marvella said...

No, Debbie, they weren't. I only took one with me.

It was hard to tell about some people, though. Costume or just plain strange taste in clothes and hair.

Great photos, Mary. DragonCon is such fun and so bizarre! But I know you worked hard, though I see you got a little time out of the Writers' Track.

Just walkin around, Mary? Interesting post, and loved the costumes.

Mona, some kids were there but some costumes were a bit much, or not enough. I have no kids, only a daughter, now 38.

Thanks, Linda! i had a few minutes away from supervision. My keepers weren't looking all the time.

Joanna, all I could do was stare sometimes. I didn't do parades or parties. I was a tad too conservative.
